Running Essentials Course

Perkins Coaching Clinic Series:  Goal Setting

 Date - Saturday January 28

Time - 7-8:15am

Location - Olympic Sports and Spine Rehabilitation (8011 112th St Ct E Puyallup, WA 98373)

Cost - $15 per person

Description - Guest speaker and Sport Psychology professional Samantha Solis will be presenting the importance of goal setting to promote success in running.  Sometimes goal setting can feel overwhelming and it can be hard to know how to effectively reach your goals.  Samantha will take participants through an interactive yet private process of creating personalized goals using the SMARTY approach as wel as other proven methods.  Following the clinic, there will be a group run for all levels and abilities.

Perkins Coaching Clinic Series:  Running Shoes, Foot Biomechanics, and Gait Analysis

Date - Saturday August 6

Time - 7-8:15am

Location - Olympic Sports and Spine Rehabilitation (8011 112th St Ct E Puyallup, WA 98373)

Cost - $15 per person

Description - There are hundreds of different models of running shoes and it can be confusing and overwhelming to figure out what is best for you.  Guest presenter Nick Paterno, a local competitive runner and shoe expert will be sharing his expertise on all things related to running shoes.  Nick will explain the difference between the main categories of running shoes including Support, Neutral, Cushion, Racing, etc...  He will discuss the health and performance benefits of having multiple pairs of shoes in rotation.  He will show how foot strike biomechanics relates to choosing a pair or multiple pairs of shoes that fit your personal running needs.  Nick will also be conducting basic gait analyses for interested attendees.  Following the clinic, the Y Run Club will be doing a group run for all levels and abilities.
